US stocks rise sharply as oil bounces
US stocks staged sharp rallies on Tuesday, with main indexes posting the largest one-day gain in to months, bolstered by rebounding oil prices.
The Dow Jones rose 222.24 points, or 1.26% to close at 17,928.35. The S&P 500 gained 25.70 points, or 1.25%, to 2,084.39. The Nasdaq composite advanced 59.67 points, or 1.26% to 4,809.88.
WTI crude for June delivery settled at $44.66 a barrel, up 1.22 or 2.81% on the session on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
